I’m passionate about love and marriage and even more passionate about helping other wives to discover their passions and chase their dreams while maintaining happy, healthy marriages. As wives, we are the real MVPs. We juggle so many different things and each and every one of us WERKS in one way or another (whether that be by holding a traditional job outside of the home, managing our own blog, business, or brand, or doing something totally different). I’m a firm believer that this is something that should be celebrated, and that’s why I created LiveLifeWell’s monthly Wives Who WERK segment. Each month, I will be interviewing a wife in order to celebrate her and what she does. I would love to feature you! If you’re a wife who would be interested in being featured or if you want to nominate someone else, don’t hesitate to contact me.
My second wife who werks definitely WERKS in more ways than one. She is a mother, a full time government service worker, and an air force reservist. This 25 year old military brat who is currently living in Tokyo, Japan with her husband and son is also a fashionista who slays and shares her outfits on her blog and social media pages to inspire others. I’m so excited to introduce you all to Mrs. Brandy Russell.
Wives Who WERK Interview: Mrs. Brandy Russell
What makes you more than a wifey?
I grew up around nothing but strong women. So I’ve always told myself that when the right man comes into my life, I will not just be the woman he marries, I will also be his lover, best friend, confidant, bussiness partner, and more if need be. It’s important to me to make sure I have my own individuality, so that I won’t loose sight of who I am, all while being “his wife”. Because we all know, If mama isnt happy no one will be!
How did you determine your passion?
At a young age, my mom always dressed me in cute little outfits with matching purses. I admire how my mom would dress to kill no matter where she was going or what the event was. I just remember wanting to be older just so I could wear high heels just like her. She always told me, “always keep yourself together wherever you go, you never know who you’ll run into.” I determined my passion for fashion while piecing together an outfit with just a simple $5 over-sized sweater from the thrift store. I began with the pants, then accessories, and brought the outfit together with shoes and a cute bag and a popping lip color! I received so many compliments wearing that outfit, and the feeling of knowing I had completely put the outfit together myself was so gratifying and gave me so much confidence ! Since then, I became infatuated with everything fashion and felt that every woman should feel that exact same feeling of self confidence and love for themselves as I felt that day! It is my mission to make women feel beautiful inside and out!
Tell us your love story! How did you and your hubby meet? How long you been married?
My husband and I met in tech school for LRS (Logistics Readiness Squadron in the Air Force) – Yes, we are a tech school love. I feel he came into my life with perfect timing. One day I was sitting on a park bench enjoying the weather listening to music, and this tall mocha joe walks up to me being extra and over the top with flirty lines ha-ha. At first I didn’t even pay him no mind, I was in a dark place and honestly was nonchalant to any guy that approached me, but he kept me laughing and to make me smile at a time like that was a big deal. So, I gave him a chance. We ended up hanging out and found out we are from the same area in Virginia (757). That same night we sat outside and literally talked for hours about life and we had the same views and dreams as one another. Before you know it, it was 4am and we didn’t even care. Ever since that day I literally could not be without him. We spent evenings after class and every weekend together. He was stationed in Dyess,TX and I was across country in Dover, DE, so I was flying every month to see him. We were and still are inseparable. 3yrs down, forever to go!
How has your husband supported you and your dreams?
My husband has supported me in so many ways it’s hard to narrow it down to just one. He is the one who pushed me to pursue this vision. He does research on what I need to better my work ethic, he gives me advice on what I can improve on, puts up with my shopping habits (ha-ha), and he is my photographer!
How do you balance your marital and household responsibilities with your career, blog, and brand?
Between working a full time job, being a wife and mother, and being a blogger and building my brand, I can honestly say I am still trying to get the hang of this time management thing. Sometimes, I find myself blogging while at work (shhh! Don’t tell anyone) But, overall one thing I will not lack in is being a good wife to my husband. If the foundation is broken, we can’t build our empire. Wife first, Mom second, blogger/brander third.

What is your biggest piece of marital advice for other wives?
Communication, Communication, Communication! If you communicate with your partner everything else will fall into place.
Where do you see yourself, your family, and you career, blog, and brand in 5 years?
With hard work, dedication, and drive I see myself, my brand, my blog, my career evolving and blossoming into everything I dreamed it would be. I see myself making men/women feel confident and sexy inside and out! Inspiring women of all ages, colors, shapes, and sizes! Be yourself, and love the person you are! As for my family, I see us with another little bambino added to the Russell clan and settled into a new home – traveling more and continuing to build on our empire.
